Velocity 74 Awarded LEED Silver Certification
Speculative Constructed Warehouse Achieves LEED® Silver Certification
Browning announced that Velocity 74 Building 1 has been awarded LEED® Silver Certification. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and an international symbol of excellence. Through design, construction and operations practices that improve environmental and human health, LEED-certified buildings are helping to make the world more sustainable.
“Achieving LEED certification is more than just implementing sustainable practices. It represents a commitment to making the world a better place and influencing others to do better,” said Peter Templeton, president and CEO, USGBC. “Given the extraordinary importance of climate protection and the central role buildings play in that effort, Browning is creating a path forward through their LEED certification.”

Velocity 74 achieved LEED certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions in areas including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. Working with BRS Consulting we have already certified over 1.8 million square feet of warehouses in our portfolio over the last year.
“Although this is not the first LEED building Browning has constructed, it represents our commitment to sustainability and how we approach our projects, even those constructed speculatively like Velocity 74,” said Mark Susemichel, chief development officer, Browning.
Green buildings allow companies to operate more sustainably and give the people inside them a healthier, more comfortable space to work and play. Certification is proof that buildings are going above and beyond to ensure the space is designed and constructed to the highest level of sustainability and how Browning continues Breaking New Ground.
