Build Your Network – Amanda’s Story

Construction is a relationship-driven industry, and Amanda understands that a strong network can open doors, create new opportunities, and accelerate career growth.

She began her career as a receptionist at a mechanical contracting company, where she quickly realized that success in construction isn’t just about technical expertise—it’s about the connections you build and the knowledge you gain from others. Over the past 25 years, she has cultivated relationships and knowledge across multiple sectors including accounting, estimating, project coordination, and more.

Now, as a Project Coordinator, Amanda thrives on the collaboration that drives every project’s success. She also serves on the Indy NAWIC (National Women in Construction) Board, where she helps make decisions to grow and shape the chapter, as well as support other women in the industry in any way possible.

Find a professional network… like NAWIC!

Professional networks connect you with others in your field and provide educational resources to increase your skill set. Joining organizations like NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction) or other industry groups allows you to build relationships, stay informed about industry trends, and access mentorship opportunities. These networks can also introduce you to career-changing opportunities, whether through job postings, leadership training, or collaborative projects. Engaging with a professional community helps you stay motivated, supported, and on a path to long-term success.

Every role, project, or challenge is a chance to gain experience, expand your skill set, and build relationships. Whether it’s volunteering for a new assignment, stepping outside your comfort zone, or taking on responsibilities that push you to grow, embracing new opportunities can open unexpected doors in your career.
