Breaking New Ground at Marian University – E. S. Witchger School of Engineering
Friday, June 4, 2021, we celebrated with Marian University leaders and special guests gathered to break ground on the new E. S. Witchger School of Engineering, anticipated to open to the first class of students in the Fall Semester of 2022.
As the Construction Manager for this project, we value the partnership Browning has built with Marian over the last dozen years – working together on seven significant campus projects. Similar to the way the Michael A. Evans Center has been a game changer for the medical program and students, we are excited to see that Marian once again recognizes how the right facility can translate a 40% growth in their STEHM programs into furthering their goal of graduating a diverse pipeline of talented leaders. The new E. S. Witchger School of Engineering will expand Marian University’s vision of offering Bachelor of Engineering degrees in biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering by preparing engineering students to become transformational leaders with strong liberal arts competencies.
Browning views the role of Construction Manager encompassing more than just the construction phase – done correctly it is a partnership with our client but also the Design Team. As such, our entire team (Project Executive, Director of Pre-Construction, Project Manager, and Field Superintendent) have been working side-by-side with the design team of Browning Day / Perkins & Will to share ideas, experiences, constructability, and cost information in real time, so the design and pricing work together simultaneously as opposed to waiting until the drawings are complete to bid out to subcontractors.
If you would like to join us in delivering this project to the Marian University campus, we encourage all contractors interested in participating to become pre-qualified / receive updates on bid packages by contacting Micah Songer, Director of Pre-Construction.
